Pavillon de Leoville Poyferre
The History
In the reign of Louis XIII, in 1638, a certain Jean
de Moytie, Counsellor of the Bordeaux
parliament and a noble bourgeois of the town,
owned a beautifully sloped gravelly vineyard near
the River. This place, as was the tradition, was
named after its owner and thus became the
“Mont-Moytie.”
The Grape
52% cabernet sauvignon, 38% merlot and 10% petit
verdot
Tasting note
Intense purple red color with a violet hue. The nose is
re- fined and fresh with notes aromas of black fruit
(blackcurrant and blackberry) and slightly toasted hints.
ON the palate it is round and supple with a nice
expression of black fruit. The wine is well balanced with
a tannic structure already well integrated and typical of
a classic vintage of the Saint-Julien appellation. Good
finish with toasted notes and red fruit hints.
