Chateau Picoron Bordeaux

The History

The vineyards of Château Picoron sit in the little village of Sainte-Colombe,high on south facing gentle sloping hills at the edge of Saint Emilion.Our grapes’ feet reach deeply into a unique terroir of limestone and clay, creating the perfect environment for our beautiful 100% Merlot wine. The grapes are harvested at the optimum time when the fruit is perfectly ripe. They are vinified in small separate thermoregulated inverse trunconic vats to ensure that the fruit of each plot is vinified to its unique individual characteristics. The wine is matured in French oak barrels. The result is a premium boutique wine with a production of only a few thousand cases each year.

Tasting Note

Great quality, deep rich fruit, some delicious damson and chocolate notes. The high alcohol comes through in terms of its silky and slightly heavy texture but this is well balanced, has plenty of punch. 100% Merlot. Glenda and Frank Kalyk have been owners here since 2015, making this their first vintage.
